The purpose of the Sonshine Soup Kitchen is to be an interfaith community project to reach out to individuals and families who are struggling to live independently. We do this primarily by serving a free meal in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere to any person who enters our facilities and by seeking to exhibit the love and grace of Jesus Christ in our service.
To fulfill the mission of the Sonshine Soup Kitchen, we serve a free, hot meal to anyone who enters our dining room Monday through Friday, between 4:30 and 5:30 pm. We serve our meals in the dining room at the First Baptist Church, located at 2 Crystal Avenue, Derry NH.
Clothing for men, women, and children is available to those in critical need.
A Bible study is conducted every Tuesday from 5:00PM to 6:00PM.
Limited funding is available to transport people in critical need to a local shelter.
The Sonshine Soup Kitchen is almost entirely staffed through the efforts of volunteers in the community. We use our volunteers in a variety of ways, from cooking and serving meals, to delivering and picking up various items.
