Karyn Cartier – Pastor for Pastoral Care

Karyn’s contagious enthusiasm and zest for life are fueled by a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ, a burning desire to see lives changed for and by Him, and a strong sense of gratitude for the privilege of engaging in ministry for the Lord. Karyn is the Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care at The Orchard.

A native of New England, Karyn was born in Massachusetts and came to New Hampshire in 1972 by way of Canterbury where she attended a private boarding school.  After three years in the country, Karyn fell in love with New Hampshire and has called it her home ever since.

Though Karyn felt God’s sure call upon her life as early as 1987, it was 20+ years before the Lord was ready to “plug her in” to full time ministry.  The intervening years were filled with investing in her marriage to Rick, raising their son Justin, building their home and pursuing an education.  Karyn earned her GED from the NH Department of Education; an Associate in Science from the NH Technical College, Manchester Campus; a Bachelor of Science Biology from Notre Dame College and a Master of Divinity from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.

During her life before ministry Karyn worked in retail management, owned and operated private businesses and worked as a Lab Scientist for the NH Department of Health and Human Services.  After graduating, Karyn taught as an Assistant Laboratory Instructor at Notre Dame College and went on to serve in the Science Department at Pembroke Academy High School, teaching grades 9-12.  All of these experiences have uniquely gifted Karyn for ministry in Pastoral Care.

Through her daily devotion and Bible study, Karyn has identified Ephesians 4:11-13 as her life verse:

11And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherdsand teachers,

12to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
At the Orchard, Karyn enjoys “equipping the saints” by being part of the Teaching Team, engaging in Pastoral Counseling for individuals, serving in Worship and implementing programs.  But perhaps her greatest gift is the ability to simply come alongside people and point them to Jesus.  Everyday Karyn counts it a privilege to Love God, Love People and live God’s Message in this broken and hurting world.

Ryan Leland – Pastor of Marketplace Ministry

Ryan Leland is our Assistant Pastor of Marketplace Ministries.  A “tentmaker”, Ryan works full time at a local financial firm in the training department.  Outside of work, Ryan enjoys his time with his wife Amy and children.  He is an avid reader of history and Reformed theology.  At the Orchard, Ryan enjoys serving in the corporate worship service, leading small groups, and being available to counsel and encourage.  Ryan finds the most encouragement from seeing others dig into the Word of God and have their eyes opened to the truth of who Jesus is, what He has done, and what He will do.
Ryan was born in West Brookfield, MA and became a Christian in his sophomore year in high school.  From there, Ryan attended the University of Connecticut and earned a BA in Political Science.  Furthermore, he holds a Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.  Ryan has been attending and serving the Orchard and predecessor church Londonderry Presbyterian Church for 10 years. Prior to serving at the Orchard, Ryan served as Youth Director at Litchfield Community Church, Presbyterian.
Ryan’s conviction and prayer is for God’s people in the Orchard and the broader American church to be gripped with a passion to seek the glory of God in worship.  Worship occurs corporately on the Lord’s Day where the church enters into God’s throne room.  But also, worship occurs in our day to day lives.  Therefore, Ryan’s “title” of Assistant Pastor of Marketplace Ministries carries a two-fold purpose: 1) To serve Jesus Christ in the marketplace, raising His flag there and working in a chaplaincy capacity; 2) To encourage members of the Body of Christ to consider what they do at work, home, and retirement as a calling God has given them.  In our place of employment, we are to serve Christ in word and deed so that others may see our conduct and glorify God.
Ryan’s life verse is from Romans 11:36:  “For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things.  To Him be the glory forever.  Amen.”
Soli Deo Gloria
